Ive been arguably credited with having written some 300 songs, 299 of which enjoyed a rather bumpy ride from relative obscurity to total oblivion. Heres the other one. These are the words of the great Jazz pianist and composer George Shearing about his hit of the century Lullaby of Birdland. The list of famous artists who performed this Jazz standard runs from From Ella Fitzgerald to Amy Winehouse. Gilbert Tinner wrote this arrangement for Concert Band preserving the distinctive George Shearing Sound.

Vele artiesten hebben deze hit van componist George Shearing inmiddels vertolkt. Van Ella Fitzgerald tot Amy Winehouse, iedereen gaf er weer een eigen draai aan. Gilbert Tinner schreef dit arrangement voor harmonieorkest met het behoud van de kenmerkende ‘George Shearing Sound’.

Der große Komponist und Jazzpianist George Shearing selbst sagte einmal, er habe 300 Songs geschrieben, wovon 299 in Vergessenheit geraten seien nicht so Lullaby of Birdland. Dieser Song ist auch einer der meist gecoverten Jazzstandards aller Zeiten von Ella Fitzgerald bis Amy Winehouse habe ihn viele große Interpreten sich zu eigen gemacht. Gilbert Tinner schuf dieses authentische Arrangement für Blasorchester, das den distinktiven George-Shearing-Sound bewahrt hat.
