There are two distinct melodic lines, the top having stems up, and the bottom having stems down. If your students are ready to count quarter notes, half notes, and whole notes they are ready to play this and sound great! The counterpoint is very complimentary to the melody, keeping a nice momentum and harmonically balanced sound. Your students and audience will enjoy this. I arranged it for my first and second grade bell choir, and it was their first experience playing tone chimes.
