Antoine Francisque was a lutenist and composer who lived at the end of the 16th century. He composed a collection of dances for lute called Le Tresor d'Orphee. Only one copy of this collection survived into the 21st century. The dances in this collection are absolutely delightful, and I decided to arrange a group of them for viola and keyboard for a recital I was going to play with a violist. The music was enthusiastically received by the audience, and I decided to make it available for anyone to purchase. The music is not difficult for either violist or keyboard player, and it is fun to play and fun to listen to.
