Published by Sarah Dacey (A0.1861278).Composer Amanda Aldridge (1866 - 1956) was born and lived in London and published her music under the male pseudonym Montague Ring.
Originally commissioned as arrangements for Fretwork Viol Consort, these pieces have now been reworked for String Quartet in honour of the 70th anniversary of Aldridge’s passing. They originally comprised of three different works of varied instrumentation.
Little Missie Cakewalk was a song written and published in 1908, with words by Talbot Owen and banjo accompaniment by Clifford Essex.
Lazy Dance (“La Paresseusse”) was originally for orchestra and published in 1913.
Gloriana (Rag-time) was for piano and published around 1913.
My hope is that these new arrangements will help Amanda’s music gain wider recognition and more frequent performances, freeing it from the limitations of its original instrumentation.
