This viola and piano duet is a tango, and it gives a viola player a chance to be the dramatic center of attention, for a change.

La Violista was performed in public twice, in the year 2010, by saxophonist Anders Lundegård and pianist María José Parker, with tango dancers Camilla Ng and Miles Hamby:  Once at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and again at the Lyceum in Alexandria, Virginia.  Anders Lundegård made adjustments to the viola part, to better fit his alto saxophone.

The audio sample presents my original conception for viola and piano.
