I like using the Junior Hanon first as a stepping stone to the big Hanon as I call it. Not over whelming for the younger student as it uses eighth notes and one octave up and down with the pattern. I like to use Hanon as a way to get students to learn how to feel the necessary reaches instead of looking at their hands.

This is a marvelous book for anyone wanting to improve their technique through practical exercises and scales. I owned copy of 'Hanon' in it's original form, however I think the original is far too long-winded and one simple exercise can take up two pages. The editor here condenses it right down, this results in a 'Hanon' which is easier to follow and much more approachable. Whether you're new to piano or have been playing for a while and want to improve, this is highly recommended!

There is nothing junior about this book of scales. It provides a wide variety of scale exercises that give your fingers a wonderful workout. Highly recommend to beginner needing to know the major and minor scales.

MOST USEFUL PIANO BOOK EVER! MUST HAVE FOR EVERY BEGINNING STUDENT!!! This is a GREAT BOOK because compared to the original Hanon 60 studies, this one book here only has the first 20, and plently of other finger studies like 'The Trill, change of fingers, all scales over 2 octaves, apagios over 2 octaves, Circle of 5ths Chart..... Best of all it uses 8th notes, NOT 16th!!! So, it's great ANYBODY building flexability & strength. Easier to play slower & much shorter than Hanon 60, okay! Level: Beginner - Intermediate.
