Probably Bach's most famous organ composition, the Fugue from Toccata and Fugue BWV 565 is a masterpiece of baroque music. The four voices of the fugue are shared between the four bassoons, bringing to life the polyphonic nature of the piece. The thematic elements are evenly distributed among the four parts, so that no one plays accompainment or harmonic parts only. Every part plays trough the full range of the instrument.
Notice: low A extension is required for the 4th bassoon part. A rolled-up sheet of paper works just fine (that is what I used for recording the linked YouTube video), but the sound gets inevitably compromised. There are, however, commercial versions made of plastic as well.
