J. Brahms - Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op.24 Orchestrated by A. Leytush by Johannes Brahms Full Orchestra - Digital Sheet Music

By Johannes Brahms

24 minutes of music a lot or a little? That is exactly how long my latest transcription lasts - Brahms: Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, op.24. Twenty-five variations of different characters, different styles and an extended concert fugue in piano rendition awaken the arranger's imagination and beg for an orchestra. In general, the composer's use of a musical theme of his predecessor and its further development is not only a compositional device, but a unique connection and an opportunity to prove oneself in comparison with an outstanding colleague. There are many such examples in the history of music and this requires serious research and conclusions. My risky appeal to the music of the famous composer and master of orchestration was weighed up for a long time. As a result, such a large-scale opus outgrows the chamber halls for which it was created and goes out on the wide road of its fame with the revelation of all the discoveries and beauties that are now embodied in the orchestra.
