Irisches Trio by Jan Koetsier Trumpet - Sheet Music

By Jan Koetsier

The spontaneous founding of the "Jan-Koetsier-Trio" by trumpeter Wolfgang Guggenberger and trombonist Harald Bschorr, after the performance of the "Gran Trio" for trumpet, trombone and piano op. 112 (1988), has moved me to write a new chamber music work for this formation , whose four movements have also drawn inspiration from the classical form of trio with piano. The first movement opens with a sustained introduction which is connected to a joyous theme which develops as a sonata, with an exposition, development and recapitulation. The following movement ("Variations in Popular Irish Form") presents a madeup folk-type theme with some rather romantic variations. A brilliant and virtuoso Scherzo precedes the fourth movement, a solemn finale whose four measure passacaglia theme is transformed sixteen times and finishes with a grandiose conclusion.
