In 1947-1950 he studied at the Tbilisi Conservatory with Sergei Barkhudaryan (composition). In 1953 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory with Semyon Bogatyrev (composition) and in 1957 he graduated from here. In 1953-1957 he was a teacher at the Moscow Choral School. In 1957-1974 - head of the publishing house " Music ". He wrote music for performances and films. Member of the CPSU in 1946-1991.
