As one of the most beloved and well known hymns of our time, there already exist meriad interpretations of this tune. This is mine. Finding a balance between the comfort of traditional hymn voicings and contemporary "jazz" inspired harmonic movement- this arrangement keeps things fresh, while also embracing the simple beauty of the melody we all know and love. It honors the folk tune feel, but with subtle modern flavor. It is a challenge to sing at some points, but is bookended by satisfyingly lush, and intuitive, full voicings. Though it is not an "easy" arrangement, it is written with achievability in mind. I urge you to let your ensemble give it a try. I hope you find the joy in singing it that I had in writing it.
