Frederick (A0.1856600).“I’ll Stand By You” is a 1994 power ballad by the Pretenders, written as a heartfelt pledge of unconditional support to someone going through a painful or “dark” time. The song brought the Pretenders back to the US pop charts after several years, reaching the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also charting on Alternative and Adult Contemporary formats. It has since become one of their most streamed and recognizable songs, often highlighted as a signature Pretenders ballad.
