Composed by G.F. Skipworth. Concert. 12 pages. George Skipworth #3368183. Published by George Skipworth (A0.962533).The second song of G.F. Skipworth's Songs of the Ancients, Huron Tale, a Northern Monologue is suitable for either soprano or mezzo soprano voice, and is accompanied by piano. The piece is useful in modern recital sets. The monologue is drawn from a true story in Thunder Bay, where a crow was found hanging over a river by fishing line and a hook with which he had become entangled. Soprano Barbara Wester risked drowning to rescue him, and with the crow in her lap, they talked together for half an hour. She claims that it was a conversation from which she learned much of Lake Superior history, but past that, she did not elaborate.
