Using the familiar ancient English folk song melody, the arranger spins out a fantastic meditation on Greensleeves. Fragments of the melody to come tease the listeners' ear in the engaging introduction, and when the full-blown melody is finally stated, flowing eighth note lines in the inner voices frame and elevate the lofty sustained melody. After developing the melody in surprising and interesting ways, the arranger brings back the melody straight-ahead at the end for a strong certain call, bringing this rich musical excursion to a stirring conclusion.
