This piece - "Goin' Home" - is actually the theme from the 2nd Movement Largo. The haunting melody is so stunningly beautiful that one of Dvorak's students wrote lyrics to the music and published the subsequent song in 1922. People have always speculated as to what the inspiration was for Dvorak's original theme? Was it a Czech folk tune? A Spiritual? A gospel hymn? A lullaby? No, it was something new - The New World.
