Gershwin - Three Preludes for vibraphone and marimba by George Gershwin Marimba - Digital Sheet Music

By George Gershwin

This is a true-to-the-original transcription of George Gershwin's Three Preludes for piano adapted for 3 octave, low-F vibraphone and 4.3 octave, low-A marimba. The difficulty is rather demanding and both parts need significant 4-mallet experience. I added some pedaling and mallet dampening indications to the vibraphone part, but feel free to interpret the music differently than I suggest. Every performer is welcome to do things differently. If you have an extended range marimba, I suggested some places in the 2nd movement to take down an octave if you want, but having access to an extended range marimba is not necessary for a great performance. About Colin Bunnell I’m a mostly former percussionist turned orchestra librarian. I’ve been working behind the scenes for orchestras large and small since 2012. In a nutshell, orchestra librarians overhaul printed sheet music so it can be performed by busy professional musicians in concert programs that have very little rehearsal time, which means all the music on the page needs to be presented clearly and mistake-free. I started transcribing classical music for mallet percussion instruments during the pandemic to improve my music notation chops and overall librarying skills, so I hope you’ll find these pieces neatly presented and useful to your performing career.
