Gattesca Chamber Music - Digital Sheet Music
When our beloved cat "Athenea" passed away this year, I knew I needed to write a piece in her memory. Yet, writing a single piece dedicated to her felt too painful. It occurred to me that this was an opportunity to finally contribute to the piano repertoire with a suite inspired by my cats. The title "Gattesca: A Suite With Nine Lives" seemed fitting and whimsical. Almost all my cats are represented in the piece. I left out only the first ones, who disappeared quickly, leaving me with few memories of them. These pieces are not programmatic, and apart from some small onomatopoeic fragments, there is no extramusical material. My primary goal was simply to capture a musical mood that relates to each cat or to express musically what I feel when I think of them.
