In a nutshell Frankie was betrayed by Johnny (with Nelly Blye) and she was so heartbroken that she killed Frankie. It has been in the public collective memory for approximately three generations and is still "covered" to this day. This piano solo encompasses several learning points for the pianist: swing rhythm, the old "Barrel-House" type of piano style (for dancing, boogie style/blues) which later evolved into ragtime and jazz.
