Composed for the legendary Thomas Robertello, FOUR SONGS has already made its way into the standard flute repertoire as a frequently-performed recital work. Despite the work’s title implying poetry set to music, the emotional arc of this work – ranging from the ferocious opening to the distant and cold denouement – instead allows both performer and listener to provide their own poetic narrative to this enjoyable and accessible work.
