Foundations For Mallets Percussion - Digital Sheet Music
Foundations For Mallets
Foundations For Mallets is the second in a series of methods for the aspiring percussion student. This method is designed to be incorporated with elementary to advanced students, and may be used in an individual or class setting. Though not a necessity, it is strongly recommended that students incorporate Foundations For Drumming while working on this method. Doing such will greatly serve to better develop the student’s technique, his/her understanding and application of musical nomenclature, and his/her ability to count and perform rhythms of varying complexity; all of which are the foundation for any percussionist. This method focuses upon reading and technical development through the use of scale and arpeggio exercises, as well as short melodies that gradually increase in complexity. The exercises in this method are composed for a standard 3½ octavexylophone, and are based upon the most common keys an elementary to high school student will encounter. As each new major scale is presented, an illustration is provided to indicate which notes on the xylophone correspond to its placement on the staff.
