The editing's lacking in places
I've enjoyed the wide variety of pieces this book contains (both in difficulty and in styles). Still, there are some problems I have with the editing -The score given in this book for Purcell's Ground in Gamut abruptly stops halfway through the variations, without any indication Purcell wrote more. Furthermore, the editors barely even hinted at the sort of ornamentation typically included in this sort of piece. No wonder it sounded so sparse when I played it as written! -The Rach. Concerto is excerpted from a two-piano arrangement (by the composer) of the work. The editors chose a section where the theme is concentrated in one part at a time, but still had to cut out whatever was being played in the other part at the time. This should have been mentioned. Instead, the editors claim it came from the composers arrangement for solo piano, an outright lie. I'm happy enough with the rest of the book to give it a good rating, but I find both of these inexcusable.
