First Gift (Op. 153) - Brass Octet Horn - Sheet Music
Commissioned by an ensemble La CAMARATA SONORA from Ishinomaki, Miyagi, Japan. It was premiered at the Miyazaki Ensemble Contest in December 2015. As I was envisioning what to write, one of the younger members had a baby. As she was unable to decide on the name of the child, one of the members kindly told her, "A name is the first and most important gift from the parents. Do not be in a hurry to decide. Take your time." A name is not something that is simply given, it is our first gift to our children.
