El fandango es un género musical híbrido que se extiende por todo el continente americano. Se originó a partir de las influencias africanas y la cultura popular caribeña, y se caracteriza por ser un modelo ancestral de música y melodía popular de baile y danza cantada. Durante la época colonial, el fandango era una cofradía en la que convivían diversas culturas, trascendiendo las fronteras de las clases sociales. Su popularidad comenzó a aumentar a partir del siglo XVIII.
Cipriano Pérez Serna fue un destacado músico mexicano nacido en Zaachila, Oaxaca, el 16 de septiembre de 1871. Falleció el 31 de agosto de 1956 en la ciudad de Oaxaca. Desde temprana edad, Pérez Serna se dedicó al estudio musical, desarrollando su talento como clarinetista, compositor y arreglista prolífico.
