Essential Keyboard Duets, Volume 3 Music by Bizet, Debussy, Fauré and Ravel Small Ensemble - Sheet Music

By E. L. Lancaster

This collection of piano duets (for one piano, four hands) includes the most popular repertoire by French composers and is appropriate for intermediate to early advanced pianists. It includes complete editions of Fauré's Dolly Suite, Debussy's Petite Suite, Ravel's Mother Goose Suite as well as five pieces from Bizet's Jeux d'enfants. The primo and secondo parts are on separate pages and essential ornamentation is realized in footnotes. Both parts contain measure numbers for easy reference. The comb binding creates a lay-flat book that is perfect for study and performance.

Different

The Dolly Suite in this volume is fun and something different. Have a look at the Jussen brothers playing it on YouTube. After listening to them I realised what a great piece it was and now I play it joy. Teaches exactness with counting, syncopation and timing. If you like to end a duet with a laugh and a smile then this is for you. I found the Debussy strange to my ear but its always interesting to try something outside the box. The book wears well with lots of use and sits flat due to the spiral binding. The plastic binding on my copy is cracking but Ive been using it regularly for over ten years.

excellent duet book

I have enjoyed this book as it is challenging and remains challenging, with some good pieces and arrangements. My piano duet partner and I both did grade 8 and are quite comfortable sight reading intermediate level music but need more of a challenge to work on pieces, so this hits the mark.
