Escape From The West Wing by Alan Menken Piano Solo - Digital Sheet Music

By Alan Menken

Escape From The West Wing

'Escape From The West Wing' (aka West Wing) is a dramatic score cue from Disney's animated classic, Beauty and the Beast (1991). In this scene, Belle wanders off to explore the Beast’s castle, and uncovers a room full of mystery and enchantment - going against the Beast’s orders. When the Beast discovers her there, he bursts out in anger and Belle flees the castle, finding herself in a wintery forest where a Wolf Chase ensues.Composer Alan Menken packed this cue with references to the film’s other musical themes, including the 3-note character motif for the Beast (upward minor seventh, then downward whole step), as well as the Prologue (influenced by Saint-Saens “Aquarium”). The cue opens with a song melody from “Be Our Guest”, and also references "Beauty and the Beast", and "Belle" (“Little town, it’s a quiet village”).Beauty and the Beast (1991) was the winner of 2 Academy Awards (best original score and best original song), with many more Oscar winnings to follow for Alan Menken. Orchestrations for the film were done by Danny Troob and Michael Starobin, elevating Menken’s modern Broadway sensibility with rich, symphonic textures in Menken's signature thematic style. This arrangement for solo piano is a reduction of the full orchestra, and is suited for Intermediate+ pianists. Chords are marked throughout. An additional staff is shown as needed to include instrumental elements that could not be fully condensed (for the performer's reference).Check out our arrangements on YouTube!
