English Suite No.6 was written in 1994 for the Norwegian duo of Roar Engelberg (Pan flute) and Stein-Erik Olsen (Guitar) and, at their request, the tunes used are Ding dong merrily on high (a Christmas carol), Bushes and briars (a folk song from the county of Essex) and Kemp's jig (originally a lute piece, often played in Elizabethan theatres). The present edition includes one or two ossia parts, for notes not usually available to the flute.
