The protagonist in 'Embers' is in the depths of despair at the end of a relationship; the constant drip of the rain, the smell of photographs being burnt, numbness, loneliness, desolation. 

Written in a dramatic, theatrical style, this movement has been written to allow the performer to express true sadness, truly bereft, and with the welling of tears ever present. Set to a moody, dark, still, yet highly emotional melody and harmony. Singable, appealing, tonal with a contemporary edge; a moving, expressive and bleak piece written to express physical numbness, yet with a subtle rhythmic drive.
