Dream's Edge Revisited has its roots in a love story. Dream's Edge Revisited reimagines a work originally written for brass quintet on the occasion of the composer's wedding. This new arrangement for concert band draws on the colours and textures of a full ensemble to expand and deepen theemotional landscape of the earlier work. At the heart of the work are two distinct melodies — voices that sometimes stand apartand sometimes draw together, interweaving in ways that feel both inevitable and earned. In their conversation, listeners may hear the arc of a relationship: early hesitations, moments of tension and resolution, and the gradual intertwining of two lives. Suitable for reduced InstrumentationDream's Edge Revisited was originally conceived for a chamber ensemble of fourteen musicians (seven woodwinds, five brass, and two percussion) and was arranged in that form for its premiere performance. This concert band edition has been carefully crafted to provide meaningful, integral parts for every instrument of the standard concert band while retaining the flexibility of its chamber origins.Groups wishing to perform with reduced forces should ensure coverage of the following core instrumentation: at least 2 flute/oboe; 2 clarinet; 1 alto sax; 1 of tenor sax, bassoon, or euphonium; 2 trumpets; 1 trombone; 1 of bass clarinet, bari sax, or tuba; and at least 2 percussionists.
