Dor Holech veDor Ba (a generation leaves and another arrives)
An 8 part canon, with a repeated line in Hebrew taken from from Ecclesiastes, 1:4, Dor Holech veDor Ba (one generation passes and another arrives) expresses in music the cyclical nature of the text. The piece starts in unison and broadens our in density and range, until finally returning to a unison and ending halfway through the phrase. The effect is meditative and appropriate for reflective moments.
Initially written as a part of a four movement work Al Ahava veAfar (on love and dust), the canon may be performed on its own or combined with any of the original accompanying movements.
