The large-scale, three-orchestra concerto on verses from Psalm 89 has survived anonymously in Uppsala and was assigned to Heinrich Schütz by Bruno Grusnick. However, the composition was not included in Schütz's catalogue raisonné. According to the inscription on the title page of the set of parts, the composition can be performed with 7 (SSATB, 2 Vl, Bc), 10 (2 Vl, 3 Trb, SSSATB, BC) or 14 (SSATB, Cappella SATB, 2 Vl, 3 Trb, Bc) parts. The part of the 3rd trombone is lost and was added after the continuo for our edition.
