Dodecaphonic Essay by Elliot Del Borgo School and Community - Sheet Music

By Elliot Del Borgo

Winner of the 1976 Clarinet Choir Composition Contest sponsored by Kendor and the University of Maryland, this contemporary original opens and closes with a slow, dramatic theme that contrasts beautifully with the quick (quarter note = 160) and highly rhythmic midsection, where several meter changes -- 4/4, 6/8, 7/8 -- keep all players fully engaged. Duration 4:40.

Well crafted and full of character

What a great piece to really show off the physique of your ensemble - fantastic moments of strength and also touches of lightness that characterise what everyone can achieve as part of a team. The harmonic language is accessible but edgy, allowing the group and the audience to immediately jump on board and be taken on a fascinating musical journey.
