Snyder (A0.1108244).Do You Hear What I Hear is a Christmas classic written by a man who experienced the horrors of war. Written in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis by Noel Regney, who had been drafted into the German army in WW2. Because of his hatred of the Nazis, Regney worked for the French Underground. During one mission, he was assigned to lead the German army into a trap where the French killed many German soldiers in the crossfire. Regney was shot, recovered physically, but was haunted by the scene of many soldiers dying that day. Year later, working as a song writer, Regney was asked to write a Christmas song, so he wrote these lyrics, a powerful plea for peace. He was walking in the park one day and saw two babies in strollers smiling at each other. The lyrics came to him, and he asked his wife to write the tune. As she was walking one day, she heard a tune played by trumpets in her head. This arrangement is on the easier end of advanced intermediate piano solo, and begins in the key of C, modulates to Ab on verse 3 and then Eb on the 4th verse.
