Dass Hans-Martin Linde ein wahres Allroundtalent ist, stellt er nicht nur als weltweit gefeierter Blockflöten-Virtuose, sondern auch als Dirigent, Dozent, Maler und nicht zuletzt als Komponist unter Beweis. Bei der Textauswahl seines Stücks Die Zahl ist nichts für vierstimmigen gemischten Chor (SATB) a cappella begibt sich der in Basel beheimatete Vollblutmusiker auf buddhistisches Terrain. Denn diesem Werk liegen Verse des „Dhammapada" zugrunde, einer im 4. bis 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr. entstandenen indischen Spruchsammlung, die zu den heiligen Schriften des Pali-Kanons gehört. Auf rhythmisch wie tonal vertrackte Weise vertont Linde den von Hans Much ins Deutsche übertragenen Text, der die Ver(sch)wendung leerer Worthülsen anprangert, denn: „Die Zahl ist nichts" … auf den wahrhaften Inhalt kommt es an!
