The Concerto for French Horn and Band was written for and dedicated to two hornists, the composer's daughter, Sarah, and Miles Johnson, the now retired conductor of the St. Olaf College Band. The concerto received two premiere performances. The first was at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the Spring of 1993 performed by the University of Wisconsin Symphonic Band and the composer's daughter. The second premiere was performed in the Fall of 1994 with Miles Johnson conducting the St. Oalf College Band.
