Concerto Orchestra - Sheet Music

This concerto for horn and orchestra (piano reduction available), which is eighteen minutes long, was commissioned by and dedicated to Bruno Schneider, the renowned swiss horn virtuoso. It is a very dramatic and gripping work, featuring animated and lyrical phrases at a challenging technical level in all three movements. The first movement (in which a same sound is repeated over twenty-seven measures on variable rhythmical structures) requires relentless rhythmical persistence. Solo cadenzi often follow aleatoric sequences, in the second movement partly on undefined pitches. The third movement of the Concerto features dance-like sequences but ends with a long soft and fragile note that gradually fades away. Jost Meier, October, 2015, Basel, Switzerland
