In his symphony Seven Gates of Jerusalem, however, the instrument, in the form of the bass trumpet, was given, apart from cadences of Joseph Haydn's Concerto in E flat major, a brilliant part representing the voice of God. A similar task is assigned to the instrument in Symphony No. 8. In 2015, after 20 concert works for other solo instruments, Concertino was the first trumpet concerto composed by Penderecki.
