These delightful songs are designed for young singers with limited ranges. "Hello" a call and response song can be sung as children enter the classroom and uses the S-M Kodaly interval for easy recognition. "My Cat Came Back" uses alternating intervals of a 4th and 5th but is easy enough for rote learning. This fun "old McDonald" style is about a cat, dog and cow who are gone for a week but have nothing to say but Me-ow, Bow-wow, and Moo. The following three songs are about the weather and make a nice set. Rain has a simple ostinato bass line of only five pitches in part II. Snow uses and ostinato but then evolves into a unison B section with a round at the end. Weary Winter Winds is mostly unison. These lovely songs are great for beginning singers, insecure singers and early in the school year and are fun and beautiful at the same time. Enjoy!
