Henry Mancini studeerde compositie, piano en orkestdirectie aan de Julliard School of Music. Hij startte zijn muzikale loopbaan als pianist en arrangeur bij het orkest van Tex Beneke maar werd gauw als arrangeur door de filmmaatschappij Universal aangeworven. Onder-tussen volgde hij nog les bij Mario Castelnuevo-Tedesco en Ernst Krenek en weldra ontpopte hij zich tot een groot componist van filmmuziek. Hij werd onsterfelijk dank zij het beroemde 'Pink Panther' thema. Mancini is ook steeds een meester geweest in lekker swingende bigbandmuziek, zoals in dit opge-wekte 'Cheers' dat heel knap door Dick Ravenal voor blaasorkest gearran-geerd werd.

Henry Mancini studied composition, piano and conducting at the famous Julliard School of Music. He started his musical career as a pianist and arranger with the Tex Beneke Band before working as arranger for the Universal movie pictures company. In the meantime he studied with Mario Castelnuevo-Tedesco and Ernst Krenek. He soon turned out to be a great sound-track composer and finally became famous with his 'Pink Panther Theme'. Mancini has always been a fine composer and arranger of swinging bigband music as well, which can be heard in Cheers skilfully arranged for symphonic band by Dick Ravenal.

Mancini a toujours été un maître de la musique pour big-band, ce que Cheers illustre pleinement dans ce pétillant arrangement pour orchestre d'harmonie de Dick Ravenal.

Mancini war auch immer ein Komponist herrlich swingender Bigbandmusik und das hört man bei Cheers, das Dick Ravenal auf wirkungsvolle Weise für Sinfonisches Blasorchester arrangiert hat.
