Cavatine, Op. 144 for Two Trombones by Camille Saint-Saens Trombone Duet - Digital Sheet Music

By Camille Saint-Saens

Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) was a French organist and professor at the Paris Conservatoire. A prolific composer, he produced many great works, including operas, symphonies, concerti, chamber and choral works. Cavatine, Op. 144 was written in 1915 as a musical gift to Boston Symphony trombonist George W. Stewart who helped with the composer's trans-Atlantic voyage to North America as the special guest of the World's Fair in St. Louis. The work has become one of the most popular solos in the trombone repertoire with its beautiful phrases and expressive feel. This great music has been arranged and performed for two trombonists by Jessica Hawthorne.
