Composed by Mykola Leontovych. Arranged by Derek Hasted. 20th Century,Christmas,Folk. Score and Parts. 16 pages. Derek Hasted #4794795. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797752).For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.
Derek Hasted writes "Mykola Leontovych wrote this charming tune in 1914, based on the Ukrainian Folk Tune Shchedryk and distinguished by a repeating four note ostinato. The music is public domain, though the words that turned it into the famous "Carol Of The Bells" are in copyright and are not included here.
This piece of music is ideal for a novice guitar ensemble - only one part ventures out of first position.
But as well as being a fantastic piece for a school concert, it is also great in an adult concert, since it has immediate audience appeal and needs minimal preparation in experienced hands.
There are three verses - the texture of this arrangement blossoms and thickens as the verses unfold.
Within the score there are suggestions that will make the music just a little harder but the sound a lot, lot more like bells!
I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"
This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by "number of instruments", with links to soundclips and sample score.
