Capriccio for Wind Ensemble by Satoshi Yagisawa Concert Band - Sheet Music
By Satoshi YagisawaThe original "Capriccio" for clarinet octet was composed in 2002 and commissioned by Takanawadai High School. This version for wind ensemble was adapted for Taisei Junior High School Wind Orchestra (Kyoto). "Capriccio" is synonymous with "fantasia," whimsical and fanciful, a cheerful instrumental piece not strictly adhering to a formal structure. Under the direction of Ms. Yukiko Kawakatsu, the 12 member wind orchestra was awarded gold at the 2023 Kansai Wind Music Contest and advanced to national competition of the Japan Wind and Ensemble Contest, showcasing a performance that explores new possibilities for small bands. Performance notes: It is permissible to omit 32nd notes for woodwinds if they present difficulties, and adjustments such as changing register are allowed to accommodate the realities of the educational setting. For ensembles with a low brass player, performing without a piano is allowed, considering the original intention of parts exclusively for piano. (Satoshi Yagisawa)
