Canticle of the Creatures (SSAA) SSAA - Audio
The text is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. Sr. Theophane wrote this composition for the 75th anniversary of the School Sisters of St. Francis (1949). The sisters continue to sing it as a closing hymn at major community celebrations. It had been taught to them during their formation years. It is customarily followed by an organ postlude -- "Tribute" by Sr. Mary Hueller OSF (Maurelia) which is based on the Canticle. This arrangement is SSAA. Sr. Theophane also left a manuscript for an SSAATTBB arrangement which is in process of publication. We don't have a recording of this mixed choir version. Check for the published score at sssf.org / Music Catalog.
