Brejeiro (Mischievous Fellow) by Ernesto Nazareth Brass Quintet - Digital Sheet Music

By Ernesto Nazareth

Ernesto Nazareth’s

One of Ernesto Nazareth’s earliest tangos Brejeiro (Mischievous Fellow) remains one of his most memorable works. This piece was written circa 1893 and the referenced edition was published by Fontes & Cia of Rio de Janeiro the same year. It is dedicated to his nephew Gilberto de Meirelles Nazareth "Gigi" (1887-1903). The tuba part is quite active in some passages and performer gets a section to shine. I lowered the keys a major third for better keys for brass and to avoid unnecessarily high tessituras. I hope this arrangement makes this piece more available to performers and listeners alike. - Matthew NunesFort Wayne, Indiana 2026
