Composed in 2006 (revised 2018).
Level: Intermediate level; very popular with high school students; been played at Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA) competitions by a high school student, as well as used as part of a junior piano recital at college.
Composition notes: This is a carefree, early jazz-influenced composition, with flexible tempos and dynamics. Great for students who are interested in studying jazz harmony, since it's based on common jazz chord progressions, also for fans George Gershwin's Three Preludes. Bleecker Street gained its name in part from where I was when I came up with the ostinato bass part that begins and is played throughout the composition. This title also reflects my impression of the bustling atmosphere one enters when walking on this street in Greenwich Village in New York City.
