"Bamboula" is from Gottschalk's three "Lousiana Creole Pieces", composed from 1844 to 1846 by the 19th century superstar pianist and composer born in New Orleans. The shifting moods and cakewalk characteristics made it one of his most popular and enduring works as well as a precursor to ragtime. The arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets with C trumpet alternate parts, horn in F with flugelhorn/trumpet substitute, trombone or euphonium and tuba. The audio file is an actual brass quintet performance and not a computer playback of the score.See 150+ mixed brass ensembles and homogeneous horn, trumpet and trombone ensembles publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music from the Renaissance to contemporary works for trios, quartets, quintets, sextets, septets, octets, brass choir and brass band. Nice and Bouncy

Charlie Decker has a knack for good arrangements of fun, crowd pleasing quintets. Audiences tend to enjoy the playing when the players are having fun, and this piece should do it!! It's rhythmic and jaunty in just the right amount and a nice challenge for each player. Certainly a nice change of pace on a serious program and even better on casual fun concert program. You won't be disappointed!

American classic fun

This tune was made popular by Hershey Kay's Cakewalk suite. Fun and catchy tune well scored for quintet. If you listen to the original, you might want to edit the last couple of bars to match. Pretty easy and fun to play and hear. A good example of old Americana besides patriotic tunes. Gottschalk's time in New Orleans is evident.
