Jazz Big Band - Medium
SKU: JL.JLP-8111
By Duke Ellington. Edited by Rob DuBoff, Dylan Canterbury, and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Duke Ellington. Latin. Full score and parts. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-8111).Duke Ellington arranged this Juan Tizol melody in 1941. This is a great trombone and violin feature. The violin part was originally played by trumpeter Ray Nance; hence, there were only 2 trumpet parts written. For this publication the violin solo part is included in trumpet 2 in the event that a violinist is not available. This arrangement is full of brilliant ensemble voicings and interplay. Here's a great way to feature trombone and a guest violinist!
Instrumentation: 2 Alto Saxophones, Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, 3 Trumpets, 3 Trombones, Violin (optional), Piano, Bass, Drums.
