Bacchus Polka, Op. 38 by Johann Strauss Jr. Brass Quintet - Digital Sheet Music

By Johann Strauss Jr.

Johann Strauss II’s

Johann Strauss II’s raucous Bacchus Polka, Op. 38 was written in 1847 and the referenced edition was the piano reduction published by H. F. Müller. This is one of a handful of works with vocal cues, here being “Bacchus, Bacchus, tra-la-la-la” and a translation of the final cue into “Bacchus, long live Bacchus!” from “Der Bachus lebe hoch!” to match the syllables. These vocal cues are of course optional, but performing them helps bring the piece’s inspiration to life. I hope this arrangement makes this piece more available to performers and listeners alike.
