A 4 Mallet, Advanced Marimba Solo. Grade 1 (Most Difficult). A challenging collegiate solo that opens in the key of A, begins with poppy and short notes foreshadowing the storm to come. The storm rolls in alongside the rhythmic crescendo, 16th-note triplets and 6-tuplets up and down the keyboard. Once the storm calms, a quick 16th-note pattern flows within the marimba, signifying the eye of the storm. The piece finishes with a short rolling section and an augmented 16th note pattern, the solo closes with 16th-note triplets down the keyboard leading into another 16th-note triplet run up the board. Finally, a cut-up mixolydian pattern followed by the gracious roll of a C# Minor Chord to end the solo. The piece contains multiple time & key signature changes. It also features rolling patterns and double verticals on one hand and ostinatos in the other. Multiple rhythms split 16th note patterns between the RH & LH. The solo also contains 7-tuplets, 16th-note runs, 16th-note triplet runs, 16th-note 5-tuplet runs, & 16th-note 6-tuplet runs up and down the marimba.
