This sprightly dance from Grieg's Peer Gynt features the flute section. Utilizing grace notes and trills, for concert performance, all available flute players may stand at the front of the stage for a little showing off!

Altogether, Grieg wrote 22 pieces as incidental music for his fellow countryman Henrik Ibsen's great Norwegian verse drama, Peer Gynt. "Anitra's Dance" is one of them. The setting is an Arab tent near an oasis in Egypt. Anitra is a dancer who Peer Gynt has become very attracted to.
