Derek Hasted writes "This wonderfully lyrical piece, popular both as a Concert item and at weddings, moves nicely from “voice and piano” to “guitar duet”, and will suit intermediate players.
I’ve set the piece one tone lower than the original so that it fits better on the neck of the guitar, and by tuning the bottom string to D, a rich bass is assured too.
There are two versions in this one edition - they contain the same material. One version is "tune and accompaniment”. The other version swaps roles halfway through to add variety to a performance. The two arrangements are in this one edition. Two Sample Pages are included so that purchasers on Sheet Music Plus can see representative parts for each instrument. There is no need to print these.
Both versions build in the same way, becoming more rhythmic as the piece progresses, and both include the instrumental break before the final chorus. Note that the accompaniment rhythm becomes a little tighter in the choruses, using double dotted notes, because these align better with the syncopated tune. In the verse, single dotted notes are used so that the music flows more smoothly.
